Research

My research examines how armed groups build and transform political authority during and after civil wars. I focus on rebel governance, post-conflict power-sharing and the financial and bureaucratic institutions of de facto authorities such as the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES). A second line of work investigates early warning systems, crisis recognition failures and political risk measurement, with empirical work on Sri Lanka, Israel and Palestine.
